What is India Waves Star Search (IWSS)? Do you want to show your talent on Television?
Do you have talent or do you know a child, teen or an adult who has talent for Dancing? Acting? Modeling? Singing? Playing a musical instrument? Monologue? Any creative talent?
If you said “Yes” to any one of the above, India Waves Star Search is for you!

IWSS provides platform & an opportunity to talents in the field of Performing Arts, Broadcast Media & Entertainment. Outstanding talents are recognized and promoted on India Waves TV Network & beyond. We are open to represent the talents and guide them to achieve their professional goals.
Will only winners appear on India Waves TV Network broadcast?
All contestants competing in IWSS will get an opportunity to showcase glimpses of their talent on India Waves TV Network.

Who can participate in IWSS?
Anyone with roots to India from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Fiji, Sri Lanka, Nepal UK, Australia or any other country. Any one parent or grandparent or ancestors must have roots to India.
What are the age requirements? Little Stars: 5 to 8 years old
Junior Stars 9 years - 13 years
Stars 14 years - 24 years Non Scholarship non-competitive Showcase only opportunity is also open to any age talent
What are the different talents for competition & showcase at IWSS?
Talent can be one of the following or fusion of following as long as it remains within performance time limit (see #8)
1. Dancing
2. Singing
3. Acting
4. Play musical instrument
5. Mimicry
6. Any Creative Talent
Do you have competition in Modeling & Personality at IWSS? Yes, besides competition round in Talent Category, school & college students ages 14 years - 24 years can compete in Modeling & Personality Category. Non Scholarship non-competitive Showcase only opportunity is also open to any age talent
Can I participate in all Talent, Modeling & Personality? Yes, if you are school & college student between ages 14 years - 24 years. Your combined entry fee will be $59 only (instead of $49+$49= $98).
What is the performance time limit for different age Groups at IWSS?
Little Stars performance time limit is up to 3:00 minutes.
Junior & Stars performance time limit is up to 3:30 minutes.
Stars competing in Modeling & Personality will have upto 3 minutes for model walk, self introduction & personality round.
Will Male & Female compete separately in IWSS?
No. Male & female will compete under the same Groups: Kids, Juniors & Stars.
How can I showcase my different talents at IWSS?
You have a choice to perform on one talent or blend of different talents from # 6 (above).
For example, you can blend dancing with ccting, singing with dancing or any blend of creative talents.
What type of Dancing & music allowed to compete in Dance Category?
Select your choice of dance & music in any language! Select from Bollywood, Hip Hop, Bhangra, Giddha, Raas, Garba, Classical, Semi-classical, Western, Ballet, Folk, Fusion, etc.
What can I wear when competing in Talent or Modeling?
You have a choice to wear either Traditional or Western outfit.
Will I be able to sing on Karaoke or without music? You can sing without music. You can also sing on your own instrumental CD track (Karaoke style). Bring your CD with track within your age group time limit.
Can I lip sync? Contestants cannot lip sync during singing talent.
You may lip sync during dancing or acting over a song number if needed for your talent performance.
How does a contestant compete in Creative Talent? Suggested creative talent includes Monologue, Speech, Karate, Standup comedy, Fusion of dancing, acting, singing, playing intrument etc. You can email your creative talent idea for official approval.
How do you determine IWSS Winners? There will be Winners & First Runner-Up recognized in different age Groups:
A) Little Stars B) Junior Stars C) Stars D) Modeling/Personality
What are the prizes? 1. All contestants will be showcased with Glimpses of IWSS on India Waves TV Network!
2. Cash Scholarship prizes for Winners & First Runner-Up in each age group recognized.
3. Opportunity to join India Waves Youth Wing
4. Hosting opportunity on India Waves TV Network for appropriate age group
How much is the contestant entry processing fee with Banquet Dinner at IWSS? Following Non refundable processing fee per contestant must be included with the application.
Little Stars, Junior Stars, Stars or Modeling = $49
If you are competing in both - Stars (Talent) + Modeling/Personality, your combined entry fee = $59 only (instead of $49+$49= $98) This fee includes your Banquet Dinner at IWSS!
What if I submit my completed application & will not be able to perform. Will I get my refund?
Please note, your entry fees will be forfeited since it is a non-refundable processing fee. However your entry fee is valid for you for admission to IWSS Banquet Broadcast Event. Your talent entry is non-transferable.
Do I need to send my photographs?
Yes, if you are competing in Modeling/Personality.
Will there be rehearsals?
No, this is a competition. Contestants are entitled to keep their act/talent confidential.
If you are competing in Modeling/Personality, you will have rehearsal opportunity.
Does my family or friend need to buy tickets? Yes. anyone entering the Banquet Hall will be required to buy their ticket that includes Dinner. (Kids under one year old/infant in arms exempted).
All seats are reserved & Secured by Banquet Facilities.
Do Contestants buy tickets to be seated with audience? No additional ticket charge for contestant. Every contestant will be provided free Non reserved seats & Complimentary Dinner courtesy IW Management.
If you choose to sit with your family on VIP or VVIP Reserved Banquet Table, you can just pay the difference and instead get your Reserved seats with family/friends.
How much is admission ticket at IWSS? Does it include Dinner? $69 per person for General Admission with Dinner (This is Non Reserved open seating without Round Tables)
$100 VIP per person with Dinner (This is Reserved seating. Round Table of Ten $750) $ave $250
$150 VVIP per person with Dinner (This is Reserved seating. Round Table of ten $1000) $ave $500

Can I complete my entry online & buy tickets online with credit card? Yes, you can complete your entry & buy tickets online using the same entry form posted on our website: www.indiawaves.com
Can I reserve IWSS tickets for family & friends in advance? Yes, you can include payment for tickets along with your application at the same time. Tickets will be sold on first come first serve basis.
Can I bring my family or friend backstage? Yes, you will have to request for only one Adult for backstage access authorization to assist contestant in case of minors.
Your backstage authorization will include Banquet facility access instructions conforming to Event Agenda.
Does the person authorized for backstage need a ticket? Yes, anyone entering the facility/hall needs a ticket including authorized backstage individual. Backstage authorization can be requested along with the completed application for the contestant.
Please note, if the tickets are sold out backstage access will be denied. Make sure, if you need authorization, buy your tickets in advance.
Who will be disqualified? Any abusive or cussing lyrics will disqualify. Any contestant who abuses in words, behavior and action against another contestant or an organizer will be disqualified. No intimidation will be tolerated. It will be subject to immediate disqualification. You will receive a copy of regulations governing IWSS.
What is the deadline for the Entry? Now accepting entries
Entries accepted on first come first served basis. Incase of overwhelming response, we will prepone & close entries.

UC Davis student Natasha Malhotra clinched Miss India Star Pageant 2012 title held at Hilton Newark/Fremont on Saturday, September 29, 2012. The first runner up was Shakshi Sharma (UC Sacramento) & second runner up Shivani Phanse from University of Arizona. Special Recognition awards went to Namrata Singh (University of Arizona) & Saylee Wasnik (UC East Bay).
The $10,000 in Scholarship prizes was shared among all winners. Title holder Natasha Malhotra was awarded $5000 in scholarship money & internship opportunity at India Waves TV Network.
Miss India Star Scholarship Pageant is an India Waves TV – Swagat Foundation partnership event. The Pageant was headed by Lakshmi Baweja for professional logistics for past couple of years. The Pageant was organized under her direction assisted by India Waves Youth Wing talents.
The Emcees were Lakshmi Baweja, Hibah Mohammed, Angelina Banwait, Nashiya Moosa, Sarina Vij, Anushka Varhadkar and Akhshaya Baskar.
Star Pageant Promoters Lakshmi Baweja (Founder India Waves TV Network & Radio) and Jayaram Komati (Founder Swagat Foundation) underlined the mission of Scholarship Pageant.
“India Waves is known to provide Cultural & Media platform & Recognize Youth for over 17 years. India Waves Youth Wing has developed leadership skills in IW Youth Wing that includes students from prestigious Universities including Stanford, USC, UCLA, UC Berkeley, UC Davis, Santa Clara University among others.” emphasized Lakshmi Baweja.

Jayaram Komati of Swagat Foundation noted “Scholarship money is to help talented students & assist student tuition fees” He also mentioned Swagat Restaurants serving bay area for past 25 years.
Greg Magee, General Manager Hilton Newark/Fremont recognized the importance of diversity in community. He expressed interest in giving back to the community & thanked India Waves for choosing Hilton.
The elegant packed Event was attended by popular names from Indian, Pakistani, Fiji, Afghani & Bangladeshi communities in Silicon Valley.

Miss India Star 2011 Sarina Vij crowned Natasha Malhotra Miss India Star 2012 title holder. Sarina motivated the contestants with her pep talk.
She elaborated on her internship at India Waves TV Network & gracefully took her farewell Model walk with crown on stage.
The distinguished panel of Judges included Attorney Mukesh Advani-Founder South Asian Bar Association, Former Miss India America Priya Vij, Hilton GM Greg Magee, Beauty Consultant Sujata Kamat, BATA Executive Board member Vijaya Aasuri, Dance School Director Ranjani Manda & Professional Executive Ezmina Mohammed.
The finalists at Star Scholarship Pageant ranged between the ages of 14 & 23. The finalist included Namrata Singh, Shiba Osmani, Natasha Malhotra, Saylee Wasnik, Wasnik, Simran Arora, Shivani Phanse, Reva Jain, Reyna Zaver, Hira Shafique, Shakshi Sharma & Simran Dhillon.
Scholarship Pageant competition consisted four rounds including modeling in Traditional & Western outfit, Talent segment & finally IQ round with Questions & Answers on topics related to students age group 14 to 24 years. The Scholarship Pageant was broadcast on India Waves TV Network.

Sarina Vij, a 16 years old honor student, from Harker High School in Silicon Valley won the title Miss India Star 2011 organized by India Waves TV Network & Swagat Foundation at Airport Garden Hotel in San Jose on Friday, January 28, 2011.The First Runner-Up was Lalli Venkatakrishnan of UC Berkeley & Second Runner-Up Sanaa Mohammed a graduate of UC San Diego. Special Recognition was awarded to Jessie Takhar (Miss Personality) of Merced College & Rachel Bharwani (Miss Photogenic) of Mission San Jose High School.

Star Pageant Organizers Lakshmi Baweja (Founder India Waves TV Network & Radio) and Jayaram Komati (Founder Swagat Foundation & President of Telugu Association of North America) underlined the mission of Scholarship Pageant.
Ms. Baweja offered internship opportunity for title holder Sarina Vij on India Waves TV Network besides two other contestants.“Our vision is to award annual scholarship cash money to students that will cover their one year tuition fees & expenses in future,” commented Komati in his speech.
“India Waves Youth Wing goals include balancing Indian & American cultures, Family values & Youth leadership development,” according to Lakshmi Baweja, who also produces first India Waves Youth TV originating in bay area & broadcast in all 50 States across USA.

Entries were open to students with Indian Heritage from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Fiji, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan including Indo- Americans born in USA & abroad. The ten finalists for the Pageant were Akhshaya Baskar, Simi Sharma, Shetal Waters, Sandeep Gill, Rohini Singh, Lalli Venkatakrishnan, Jessie Takhar, Sanaa Mohammed, Sarina Vij and Rachel Bharwani.

India Waves Network next Youth project is Dance Muqabla (an open dance competition) expected to attract 300 contestants from Silicon Valley School & Colleges.The annual competition for Kids 5 to 8 years, Juniors 9-13 years old, Seniors 14 to 18 years old & Open 19 years & up.
Miss India Star Scholarship Pageant will broadcast on India Waves TV Network in all 50 States originating in bay area starting Feb 5th.
