What is INDIA WAVES DANCE MUQABLA (IWDM)? IWDM is an Open Dance Competition.
What is the purpose of IWDM? An India Waves Youth Wing community project providing opportunity to recognize and showcase your talent.
Who is organizing IWDM? IWDM is an India Waves Youth Wing community project organized under the auspices of India Waves.
Will India Waves Youth Wing members compete in IWDM? No, they will not compete. IWYW will showcase their management & organizational skills.

What time will the doors open? TBD. Contestants will be informed of their sign up time.
What is the entry deadline? Now accepting Entries on first come first serve basis.
Who can enter IWDM? Anyone with roots from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Fiji, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan or any South Asian Country. In case of group entry, contestants with non-Indian roots allowed, provided majority of the group members have roots to India.
What are the age requirements? SOLO: Kids (4 years – 8 years i.e. under 9 yrs) Juniors (9 years - 13 years i.e. under 14 yrs) Open(14 years & UP) Competition open to talents including college students, teachers, choreographers, Instructors, dance masters etc.
GROUPS: Kids (4 years - 8 years i.e. under 9 yrs) Junior (9 years - 13 years i.e. under 14 yrs) Open (14 years - UP)
Age group cut off limit is according to calendar year. For example; if a contestant turns 9 yrs on April 7th at 12 AM, the contestant is eligible for Junior Category and similarly if a contestant turns 14 yrs on April 7th at 12 AM, the contestant is eligible for Open Category. The oldest contest in any group determines the group age category.
What are different Prize categories?
First, Second & Third place for Kids, Juniors & Open Categories.
Can a contestant compete both Solo & Group as well? Yes, a contestant can perform in one Solo + one Group category as well at their own risk. They must submit separate entries with processing fee for solo & Group performances.
What style of dancing is acceptable for the competition?
You have choice of Bollywood, Folk, Bhangra, Giddha, Raas, Garbha, Hip Hop, Classical, Semi Classical and free style.
How will a contestant be judged between the different dance styles? IWDM is an Open Dance Competition. Please note there will be uniform judging criteria briefed to all contestants before the Competition.
13b. What are the requirements for Props? The Following guidelines to assist you considering Props subject to pre-approval by IWDM Management. All Props allowed must be pre approved by IWDM Management.
Please note the Judging criteria does not include any scoring point for Props. * There will be no time provided for Prop setup or removal.
* Any set up time will be considered part of your performance time (Q#18) and will be deducted from your Solo 2:30 min & Group 3:30 minutes.
* The talent must carry props with them & perform.
* No decorative or stationary Props of any form are allowed on Stage regardless of size or quantity. In other words you cannot leave anything decorative or stationary on stage.
* There will be no glitter, flowers or confetti related items allowed on stage which will need clean up.
* No Chairs allowed on stage during performances.
* The props allowed on stage that contestant can perform with items such as scarves, ribbons, handkerchiefs, sticks, Hats, or hula hoops, Flower garland on contestant. (Once again items that do not need clean up).To avoid fire hazards, restrict usage of props such as lantern or diya lantern.
* No Sharp objects allowed.
What will be the order of program for IWDM contestant entry on stage?
The competition will start with Kids category followed by Juniors & Open categories respectively. Contestants will get the order of entry on stage at sign up during Orientation before the Show.
What does Orientation session mean? All contestants get together to meet Organizers & each other for a healthy competition environment. This will be on the Event Day during sign up before the Competition.
What is the Agenda at the Orientation? A. Contestant sign up & assigned reserved seating access.
B. Preapproved backstage access to authorized individuals.
C. ID verification for category qualification.
D. Order of Entry on stage assigned.
How much is the entry fee? Non refundable processing fee for entry: SOLO (one person) $22 per person (Kids, Junior & Open)
GROUP (4 or more persons)
$14 per person (up to 16 persons maximum per group)
What is the time limit of performance? Each Solo performance up to 2:30 minutes.
Each Group performance up to 3:30 minutes.
* CDs will be unplugged if the performance time exceeds assigned time limit and this may reflect on your judging score.
Can we choose any music or song for performance in any language of our choice? Yes. Each contestant can choose any song in any language of his or her choice.
We encourage creative & fresh music compositions, medley and remix songs, blends/compilation of multiple songs.
Any abusive or cussing lyrics will disqualify.
What if other contestant selects same song as mine? This is an open competition. Each contestant has choice to pick their own song regardless.
Do I need to bring my song on audio cassette or CD? You are requested to bring two (2) copies of performance CD in good quality. India Waves Management will not accept any audio cassette or scratched CD & is not responsible for glitches.
CD must have only one track up to 2:30 minutes for Solo and up to 3:30 minutes for Groups. Bring two copies of your CDs on the Event day. CDs will be collected from you at the sign up.
* Please note your Performance CDs will not be returned. No exceptions.
Who can come backstage with a participant? How long can they stay? Only one authorized Adult (Choreographer or Team Leader) is allowed backstage per group with a pre purchased ticket for the Event. However all backstage authorized persons need Pre-approval from India Waves Management at least one week before the Event day. All contestants will be notified via group email.
Backstage access allowed for Kids Solo & Kids Group between 4 yrs-8 yrs & Juniors Group only 9 yrs to 12 yrs old with Pre-approval. Only one pre-approved Adults (Choreographer or Parent) for groups with up to 6 participants & two (2) pre-approvals for 7 or more participants.
After each performance contestant(s) & authorized individual(s) will have to leave backstage & go back to their assigned seat in the auditorium. This will assist in rotating stage performers considering limited space.
Will the participant and their escort have to pay for backstage access & seating arrangement? Yes, the Choreographer or the authorized individual is required to purchase an IWDM Event admission ticket to go backstage.
What is the ticket price for admission to watch IWDM including Parents, Families, Choreographers, and Guests IWDM?
General admission $30 per person
VIP $50
VVIP $100
Infants under 24 months will be admitted FREE - if they sit on adult's lap. Only one lap infant per adult.
All others need ticket to enter the auditorium. Strict security enforced! Violators will be asked to leave the auditorium.
Is there discount for Contestants & Families? General admission $30 per person
Purchase Minimum 16 tickets = $480 You get 4 additional tickets Free ie. $120 value! (Grand Total for $480 you get 20 Gen Admission Tickets) VIP $50 (Buy 3 VIP Tickets and Get 4th VIP Ticket FREE = $150 for 4 tickets) LIMITED TICKETS VVIP $100 This limited time offer is valid only until Monday, March 12th, 2012.
* The purchase must be made with one payment in form of check or credit card.
* If you already purchased tickets until Feb 15th, you are eligible for above Free tickets with credit. (Example if you already purchased 4 tickets, with One payment, you can pay for 12 more & get additional 4 free tickets!)
Do Contestants buy tickets? Contestants do not have to buy tickets. India Waves Management will assign their reserved seats.
How do I purchase tickets for IWDM in advance? Buy online using credit card or send your check for total number of tickets of your choice/denomination along with entry form of the participant. If mailing, you can enclose the check along with the entry form for IWDM in the same package.
If you are mailing in one package or paying with one check, you will receive the group seating next to each other.
Can pre-approved backstage Adults buy tickets in advance? A reminder you can secure your “qualified” backstage access by sending your payment along with the entry form & fees of the contestant. You must submit your request for backstage access along with entry form.
* Make sure you understand the requirement for pre approved backstage access as explained above.
Will there be vendor for snacks/food concession available at the Event? There will be vendor at the location for snacks, drinks etc. unless notified otherwise.
Will the contestant appear on Television? Yes. All the contestants have a fair chance to appear on India Waves TV Network!
Who can be a Sponsor for IWDM? Any Business, A Professional or an Individual can become a Sponsor of IWDM Community Project.
What are the benefits for a Sponsor? Recognition on Stage

Promotion of your Business or Services
Presenter on Stage
VVIP Tickets etc.

Who will choose the winners? A panel of honorary judges delegated by India Waves Management.
Will there be any rehearsals? No. This is a competition. There will be no rehearsals.
What will winners win? Surprise prizes! Trophies! Opportunity to showcase your talent on India Waves TV Network.

Who defines rules and who monitors them? India Waves Management defines rules subject to change and will have final decision in all matters.
Who will be disqualified? Any contestant who abuses in words, behavior and manner against another contestant or organizer will be disqualified.
No intimidation against fellow participant will be tolerated and it will be subject to immediate disqualification.
Participants with incorrect or No valid identity will be disqualified.
Participants who miss Orientation & miss out on check in time on the day of the Event will be disqualified.
Do you allow photography or video taping inside the auditorium? VIDEO/CAMERA strictly prohibited. Video recording or Still Photography will NOT be permitted inside the auditorium or backstage. Strict security enforced. Anyone in violation will be asked to leave the auditorium or your equipment will be confiscated this includes, video, camera, cell phone etc.

How do I submit my entry forms & processing fee? Please download IWDM entry form posted on our website www.indiawaves.com.

Can I apply online & purchase advance tickets? You can apply online, pay processing fee & purchase tickets in advance using credit card. Download Entry Form & credit Card Authorization form.
